The Alero Document Management solution is a layer on top of
the Alero Document Imaging solution and provides a full
range of library services, including version control,
check-out/check-in, audit, revision history, and retention
schedules. What’s more, in contrast with workgroup or
project-oriented document management products, the Alero
Document Management solution is designed to support
large and extensive enterprise document management
initiatives, surpassing other solutions in speed,
scalability and overall performance. This solution provides
a 360 degree management of unstructured assets
(content), including the creation, management, storage, preservation, and delivery
of
content and documents related to organizational
processes.
Combined with powerful life cycle management facilities,
Alero Document Management provides a solid foundation to
support even the most demanding content environments.

Functionality: |

The functionality of this solution is divided
into the following categories:
- Capture. The capture of content is
provided by the Alero Capture application or
by a third party vendor. Alero provides some
interfaces to best of breed solutions, or
customers can also choose any solution of
preference. The capture process consists of
one or more of the following functions: single or batch
scanning, OCR/ICR, forms recognition,
barcode recognition, image cleanup,
indexing, validation, QA, etc.
- Content Management. The management of
content is provided by the Alero Document
Imaging solution. It supports indexing,
storing, searching, retrieving, viewing, foldering,
properties, printing, faxing, exporting, importing,
delivering, publishing, and many
other content functions.
- Document Management. The management of
documents is provided by the Alero Document
Management solution. It supports a full
range of library services, including version control,
check-out/check-in, audit, and revision
history.
- Storage Management. The storage of content is
provided by the Alero Content Storage
Management solution. It is based on Life
Cycle profiles, which define the life of
each document in the system from its
creation up to its destruction. These life
cycle profiles define the number of copies
per document and the storage/device, location, and
retention to use per copy. It also supports functions like migration,
caching, domain, proximity, and throttling.
Storage management is an administration-free
task with this solution. The following
devices are supported: disk,
RAID, libraries (DVD/Optical), EMC Centera CAS, and Hitachi
HCAP.
- End User Application. It allows users to
work with content.

This solution is integrated with Microsoft Office®
applications through Alero WebDAV. Users can
easily create, modify, revise or delete
documents from office applications. It is also
integrated with all the other services and
solutions provided by Alero, including the
content, process, integration, security and
